Our new flat is wonderful. I’m even enjoying the longer commute in (although not the ticket price!)

Old landlords however are being rather painful, although this entirely a surprise. They want to take money from our deposit for additional cleaning (limscale in the bathroom, apparently!) and other things that need to be “discussed”. Slighly unreasonable….

We discovered today that they may not have paid our deposit into the deposit protection scheme. This may turn out to be a good thing for us….

The law states that it the scheme is not followed, the landlord must return the full deposit to the tennant + deposit x 3. Total? £8300 (AUD$18,000).

Oh what I would do to have a law degree at this very moment!

Work today was quite fun. Half the day was spent in tears of laughter. Feeling slightly silly as I remissed about some childhood shows, Mr Squiggle came up in converstation. I proceeded to put a pen to my nose and try and describe the show to those not in the know. I guess Mr Squiggle to the British is what Blue Peter is to an Australian…..

And so we’ve moved. 30 minutes outside of London to a (not so) little place called Epsom. Our flat is no more than a minute from the station so the commute is not so bad. With my not-so-new job located in Victoria, a 40 minute train journey and I start my day. And it’s relaxing, almost.

I joined the Gym downstairs. Half the price of those in London, this one I hopefully will go to! Same building should mean no excuses. I went to a spin class today. Now I can’t sit to well. I’m not entirely sure I want to go back. Body combat tomorrow, perhaps, or maybe I’ll just try the tredmil.

The Ash Wednesday fires happened in Melbourne the year I was born. 47 people died. The photos and articles on The Age website look devestering. 14 lives already lost and more expected - horrible. The CFA volunteers are doing an amazing job.

It’s been a while since I did this blog thing. But you know, a new year and all that. Lets see how this goes.
